Studies and eco-assessmentsBy its nature and activities, a marina or port does not further the required functional and social mix. Projects to create ports or marinas often run counter to urban sustainable development on account of their unecological construction or the fact that they are not powered by renewable energies. Nor is there often any rainwater recovery system, selective sorting of waste is sometimes not encouraged, there is no mobility concept favouring eco-friendly transport, there are few or no green spaces, ecological construction materials are not used, and there is little in the way of active participation by users in designing and running the marina. Schemes to modify infrastructure and create new marinas are often long and complex and the legislation is very strict regarding modifications along banks. With this in mind, some promoters have found alternative and innovative urban infrastructure solutions to deal with the shortage of mooring space. Moreover, marinas correspond to one of the proposed alternatives. And often noted is the problem of a lack of medium- to long-term vision. The WYPO wish to accompaign projects of creation or extension of marinas and order to offer the sustainable vision that is often lacking. Greenpilot is one of the tool proposed. |
