Goals

The WYPO’s mission is to preserve and upgrade the environment of ports and marinas. The WYPO’s priority is to prevent environmental damage and degradation as a result of marina activities and more generally to promote the principle of sustainable development in relation to sailing and other water sports susceptible to have a negative effect on the environment.

The WYPO’s activities are organised into three main areas:

1) Awareness raising and education so that communities understand the importance of respecting and contributing to the preservation of the aquatic ecosystem.
2) Sustainable diagnostics and solutions in order to encourage consideration of the principles of sustainable development in water sports and to enable marinas to develop their social and economic potential while at the same time causing the least possible damage to the environment.
3) Support for people living in marina towns or dependent on marina activities, for example by contributing to an aid project for climate refugees or helping to realise projects to improve living conditions, access to drinking water, waste management, healthcare or education.
